IMAP Email Integration eliminates our need to route your emails through a "middleman" TurboLeads address for email tracking. With IMAP enabled, TurboLeads connects directly to your email account so that you can send and receive emails as usual, while your email correspondence with TurboLeads contacts gets tracked automatically. For office accounts, note that every agent can configure their own IMAP email integration as well.

To access the Email Integration screen, log into your iHOUSEweb admin menu, click TurboLeads, then click Settings, then click Email Integration (IMAP).

Flip the switch to the on position, enter your email and password*, and save. If you do not see any error messages, you're all set. We auto-detect your email provider and automatically configure all of the necessary settings for your IMAP connection (server names, port numbers, etc.).

*Many email providers now ask you to generate a special “app password” to be used by 3rd party IMAP connections (your normal login credentials will not work). Here are instructions for some of the major services:

If you see a red message that says "Cannot connect to IMAP server using given credentials", your email account may have some additional settings and security measures that are blocking our IMAP connection. Of course, you will see this same message if you entered an incorrect password, so try re-entering your password carefully. If you are sure you have entered the correct password, but you're still getting this message, we can assume that your email account settings need to be adjusted to allow the IMAP connection.

TROUBLESHOOTING FOR GOOGLE EMAIL: For gmail / google email accounts, the first place to look is your email settings. Log into your Google inbox, click the gear icon, then click "settings". Click on the "Forwarding and POP / IMAP" heading. Here you will see a section labeled "IMAP access". If this section shows that IMAP is disabled, then you need to update this setting to "Enable IMAP". Now, let's make sure your Google Account is allowing "less secure apps". Click your account icon at the top right corner of the screen (your photo or initials inside a circle), then click "My Account". Click "Sign-in & Security" and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. If this section shows "Allow less secure apps: OFF", then flip the switch so the setting changes to "Allow less secure apps: ON". You should be able to connect via IMAP now ***. If your account doesn't have this "less secure apps" setting, you probably have enhanced security via 2-step verification. Look for 2-step verification toward the top of the same screen in the "Password & Sign-In" card. If 2-step verification is turned on, we need to create a special "App Password" for TurboLeads to use. Click on "App Passwords" (directly below 2-step verification). You will now be prompted to enter your usual email password, and complete your usual 2-step verification. Finally, you can generate a new app password specifically for your TurboLeads IMAP integration. In the "Select App" dropdown menu, select "Other" and in the "Select Device" dropdown menu, select "other". Type in "TurboLeads" then click "generate" and a new password will be provided that you can use specifically for your TurboLeads IMAP Email Integration.

*** In rare cases, a Google account with "Allow less secure apps: ON" may still have trouble connecting. If this is the case, you may need to allow access to your Google account here:

TROUBLESHOOTING FOR OTHER EMAIL PROVIDERS: In most cases, you can resolve the "Cannot connect to IMAP server using given credentials" problem by enabling IMAP through your email account settings. The exact location of this setting varies by provider. Note that our IMAP integration requires the same permissions as email applications like Outlook or Apple Mail, so if your email service provider has how-to documentation to enable IMAP for those services, the same settings will apply for the TurboLeads email integration. But remember, you only need to look for an email account setting that might be blocking IMAP connections. You don't need to concern yourself with technical specifics like server names or ports numbers - that is all automatically detected. The one exception is when you attempt to connect to an uncommon email service provider that we have never encountered. In this case, you will see a message that says "Cannot recognize email service provider. Please contact support for assistance." If you are seeing this message, our engineers have already been notified, and we are working to add support for your email service as soon as possible. Contact our support staff for an update.
